Dear Friends & Loved ones, December 16, 2005
Marta works as a secretary of her parents shipping company and is going to a local University to get her degree in business administration. Our two sons Brian and Erich are members of Davi’s cell which is having its multiplication celebration this evening on our front patio and gazebo. I have been discipling Davi for almost a year now. He is a very faithful and humble servant. I feel honored to have his as part of my discipleship team. He has become an excellent preacher and I have him minister in the pulpit regularly.
Davi and Marta have been faithful and successful in the face of fairly difficult circumstances. As I said Davi is working out of town. Every Sunday evening after the church service Marta takes him to the bus station where he takes a 14hr bus ride to a city called “Laranjal do Jarí” there he works until Friday after lunch and gets on the bus back to Macapá (another 14 hr ride) When he gets into town he has the rest of the evening on Friday and the morning and afternoon on Saturday to spend with his family and make visits and disciple his group of men.
On Saturday evening at 5:30 they need to leave their home in the Port city of Santana (a half hour from Macapá) to make it to the Videira leadership school for cell leaders. After two hours of classes they participate in our weekly leadership meetings when we plan on the cell group activities and special events together. Then on Sunday morning the two of them and their 5 year old daughter Leila leave the house at 8:00 to get to their respective cell meetings which start at 9:00 a.m.
Later
that Sunday afternoon they all get into the car and drive out to the
church building where Davi who is also the saxophonist for the Videira
worship team participates in the Sunday afternoon worship practice.
While he is practicing, Marta meets with the intercessory
prayer team to get ready for the worship service.
After the service is over the cycle continues.
Several times I have asked Davi if he didn’t think that he
should quit and look for a position here in town.
He agrees that the arrangement would normally be a disaster on
any family but has assured me that the Lord has given both him and
Marta the grace to accept the present circumstances.
We all ask for prayer that the Lord would have him transferred
to Macapá as soon as possible. In
the meantime the Lord has been extending tremendous grace in their
family and fruit in their ministry. Thanks
so much for your financial involvement in our ministry.
We believe you also pray for us regularly.
Our computer was stolen this summer and all my records were on
it so it has taken me a while to get back to the point where I can
keep track of my correspondence.
We will try to keep you updated regularly from now on.
God bless you! Rick,
Sandra, Brian & Erich Spinos |
